Telegram was unblocked in Russia – reported by Roskomnadzor

A statement was released on the Roskomnadzor website, according to which the Telegram messenger and eset internet security key will again be available on the territory of the Russian Federation.

From the statement of Roskomnadzor:

“We appreciate the readiness expressed by the founder of Telegram to counteract terrorism and extremism.
In agreement with the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation, Roskomnadzor removes the requirement to restrict access to the Telegram messenger ”.

Telegram was blocked in Russia for refusing to transfer keys to the FSB to decode messages in 2017. The messenger was supposed to transfer the keys as the organizer of the dissemination of information on the Internet within 15 days after the warning from Roskomnadzor. Telegram did not do this, after which in April 2018 the regulator went to court. The company stated that the transfer of keys is technically impossible.
